Lake of the Pines

Named for the deep pine forests surrounding it, this clean, shimmering lake is nestled along its forested shores. It is a lake originally constructed for flood control by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and has now become a lake known for its water supply for area municipalities and for its outstanding recreational assets.

Boating, water sports, fishing and sailing are paired with beautiful, well maintained parks for camping, sports, swimming, picnics and bird watching. Lake of the Pines is especially known for its bass fishing tournaments and crappie fishing during the winter where there can be seen flotillas of fishing boats.

This is a place of dreamy vistas where eagles and raptors soar and people play, and it is only located 16 miles from Jefferson.
